Artists & Illustrators feature!

Kate Pellegrini's Window painting pictured will be used to launch the revamped Artists & Illustrators website, and also published in the Portfolios section of the magazine of the same title, later this month.

"This is a view through a window in Cordoba. I was drawn to the subject by the interplay of shapes and volumes, which made a complex jumble of lines, tones and planes. The limited palate of purples, blues and yellows reinforce the solidity of the subject, whilst unifying all the elements, and creating the illusion of flattened space. The composition was developed from several
sketches and photographs of the motif, taken during a hot August afternoon, and the painting was made in my London studio. It was painted over several months by building up layers of acrylic and then oil paint."

Emma Thompson & Dustin Hoffman

Kate Pellegrini was hushed and directed along the Southbank yesterday on her way to Skylark Gallery, as filming 'Last Chance Harvey' was in progress. The area along from the National Theatre became a huge windswept film set, with the director waiting for the frequent but intermittent sun to break through the racing cumulus clouds. Dustin Hoffman was last seen running towards the London Eye, in a well cut suit, long coat and white trainers, presumably to film a panning shot towards Emma Thompson looking emotional near the river. It was a long day, as they were there from at least 10am to 7pm.

Artist gone new media

Did you know that one of our artists is very into all this new technology stuff? She even started this blog.

Tina Mammoser has not only her own website and her own blog but she also does a weekly podcast recorded live in her studio!

If you'd like to hear her arty ramblings you can find the new episode about the stories behind some of her English Coast paintings, along with the previous episodes, on the site dedicated to the audio podcast: the StudioWaves site.
